A tronc is the box used to collect players’ tips for the dealers at casino table games. Players tip the croupier after a good hand or simply out of goodwill, and those tips add up to a useful extra income for dealers.
At the end of the shift, the contents of the tronc are shared out, either among the dealers who worked that table or among all the dealers working in the casino. Some casinos use a seniority system, giving dealers who have been there longer a bigger share. However the money is divided, the word means the same thing everywhere.
Tipping in live dealer games
Some live dealer products let players tip the presenter straight from the game interface, a digital version of the tronc. Where that is offered, make clear in the game information that tips are voluntary and explain how they reach studio staff.
