Visa’s History
Visa’s story begins in 1958, when Bank of America (BofA) launched the first credit card programme in the U.S. International expansion followed in 1974, and the first Visa debit card arrived in 1975. Visa Inc., the global financial group known today, was formed in 2008 through a merger of several regional businesses.
Its stock market debut was one of the largest IPOs on record. Through its Innovation Program, Visa has introduced everything from cashless payment processing to mobile payments, and it has not ignored the rise of crypto either: it became the first major payment network to settle payments in USD Coin, a stablecoin backed by the U.S. dollar.

Paying by Visa at an Online Casino
A Visa casino deposit works much like any other online card purchase:
- Open the Cashier in the casino account.
- Go to the deposit options and choose Visa.
- Enter the amount you want to deposit.
- Type in the card number and the three-digit CVV code from the back of the card.
- On your bank’s page, enter the one-time password (OTP) sent by SMS to the phone number registered with the bank.
- Confirm the payment with the OTP.
- The money appears in the casino balance within moments.
Casinos rarely charge for Visa payments, but the card-issuing bank might.

Global Reach
Visa is present practically everywhere. From the United States to the European Union and the United Kingdom, markets around the world support Visa debit, credit and prepaid cards for all kinds of payments, including casino payments wherever local laws allow them. Visa is available in more than 200 countries and territories, and the number keeps rising.
Visa Card Types
Visa offers three kinds of cards: debit, credit and gift cards. Each has its own card number and CVV code, both of which are needed to complete a casino payment. In the coming years Visa is expected to accept settlement in digital assets as well as fiat currencies, handled in the same way as its existing foreign exchange system.
Currencies
Visa handles transactions in more than 160 currencies, which makes it one of the most versatile payment networks in the world.
Why Casinos Offer Visa
Adding Visa to an online casino brings several clear benefits:
Wide Acceptance
Online casinos around the world accept Visa, so players can fund their accounts conveniently almost anywhere.
Fast Processing
Deposits are processed instantly; where a casino does pay out to Visa, withdrawals take 3–5 business days.
Layered Security
Encryption, fraud monitoring and the Zero Liability policy, which protects cardholders from unauthorised charges, work alongside Visa Secure, an extra authentication layer for online payments. Together they sharply reduce the risk of fraud in casino transactions.
Bonus Eligibility
Unlike Neteller and Skrill, Visa deposits qualify for every type of deposit bonus, and players will often find promotions aimed specifically at Visa users.
The Player Experience
Visa is a fixture of online gambling. Most casinos in most jurisdictions accept it, which says a lot about its reliability, and players already know how their cards work. Add instant processing and minimal or zero fees, and the appeal is obvious. Visa Secure and the Zero Liability policy strengthen protection further, and paying by Visa often unlocks bigger bonuses at many online casinos.
Help and Support
Visa runs a comprehensive support service for cardholders, reachable through a 24/7 hotline, email, social media and other channels. It covers a wide range of issues, from account questions and transaction disputes to lost or stolen cards.
Day-to-day account management, however, sits with the card issuer. Banks and other financial institutions handle cardholders’ accounts and specific concerns, so players should contact their issuer first and turn to Visa directly only if needed.
Deposit and Withdrawal Limits
Minimum deposits and withdrawals are set by each casino, not by Visa. The usual minimum is €10.
Security
Visa protects every payment with several layers of security: Visa Secure encryption, Visa Advanced Authorisation (an AI-powered anti-fraud system that watches transactions and account activity in real time) and the Zero Liability policy, which covers the costs if a card is stolen or used fraudulently.
Licensing
Visa holds licences and certificates from leading financial institutions in every country where it operates.
