Twain Sport Hybrid Sports Betting

Twain Sport is a joint project of Hybrid Sports League and BetGames, created to shake up live sports betting. It gives recreational bettors something new to wager on: head-to-head hybrid sports tournaments.

The format

• Two professional athletes compete on separate courts to score the most points in 60 seconds.
• Each tournament lasts an hour, with eight players fighting through custom-built arenas to reach the final.
• Across a month that adds up to 6,300 matches to bet on.

BetGames provides the pre-match betting service under an exclusive agreement with Hybrid Sports League. Sportradar supplies the odds, and its Universal Fraud Detection System protects the integrity of both the betting and the sport.

Twain Sport is privately held, set up by BetGames and Hybrid Sports League, and run by Chairman Šarūnas Mazalas.

Twain Sport opens up a new live betting vertical built around its hourly T-Basket tournament. The content is designed mainly for younger, casual bettors, and adjustable margins and risk management tools have helped it gain ground quickly in the industry.

The product is mobile-first and built on current technology so bettors can follow the action anywhere. Hybrid Sports League sets the rules, checks that tournaments follow them and applies anti-match-fixing protocols. Betting on Twain Sport is permitted in any jurisdiction that allows both sports and non-sports novelty wagering.

T-Basket is the only Twain Sport product live today. In each head-to-head match, two professional athletes try to score the most points in under 60 seconds.

Rules of play

• Each athlete plays on a half-court with one basket and four ball racks.
• A computer randomly lights up the rack to shoot from, in the same sequence for both players.
• The computer also sets each shot’s value at 1, 2 or 3 points. Viewers always see shot values and the score; the athletes only find out once the match ends.
• When the 60 seconds are up, each player may take one last shot from the lit rack.
• A tie goes to the player with the better shooting accuracy, and if that is also level, to the higher-ranked player.

Betting markets

More than 100 pre-game markets are available on T-Basket; in-play betting is not offered. Markets fall into three groups, outrights, match bets and shot value bets, and include the match or group winner, total points and which players reach the final.

Twain Sport is built with current technology, including HTML5, so it runs smoothly on any device and operating system.

Mobile

Mobile sits at the centre of Twain Sport’s plan to bring a new betting vertical to iGaming. The HTML5 framework behind T-Basket lets bettors follow and wager on the action from Android and iOS phones and tablets.
