Playtech at a glance
Playtech has been building gambling software since 1999. Over that time it has released more than 700 titles across slots, table games and live dealer formats. The company holds 30 licences in regulated jurisdictions and, counting every market-level permit, around 170 gambling licences worldwide. Its shares trade on the London Stock Exchange, and about 6,400 employees work from offices in 24 countries.
The online catalogue keeps growing in every vertical: casino, poker, bingo, sports betting and live games, with titles that feature in thousands of online casinos. Playtech is also known for pushing new technology into the industry.
Responsible gambling
In 2017 Playtech bought BetBuddy, an analytics platform that uses machine learning to spot risky gambling patterns and reach out to players before problems develop.
A bigger bet on live casino
From 2023 the company invested heavily in Playtech Live, releasing a stream of live titles based on TV formats such as Family Feud. Adventures Beyond Wonderland was named Product of the Year at an American Gaming Association award in 2023.

Ownership and leadership
Playtech is a public company. Founder Teddy Sagi still holds about 5% of the shares. A board of directors oversees the business, with Claire Milne as Interim Chairman and Mor Weizer as CEO.
Revenue for 2020 came in at around €1.078 billion, slightly below the 2019 figure, and net profit for 2020 was €297.4 million.
Product range: slots, poker and live casino
The Playtech catalogue spans 700+ games: slots, live dealer tables, virtual sports, betting software, poker, bingo and more, built for both online and land-based operators. The studio is famous for premium branded slots such as The Dark Knight, Gladiator and Robocop, and for franchises including Age of the Gods and Jackpot Giant.
iPoker
Playtech spent a full year rebuilding its iPoker product, which now has a new lobby, new game views, a home tab and fresh software with several promotional tools. The offer includes:
- Cash games in Texas Hold ’em, Omaha, Omaha High/Low and 6-Plus Hold ’em, with stakes from €0.01/€0.02 to €5/€10
- Multi-table tournaments in freeze-out, re-buy and knockout formats with different starting stacks
- Sit & Go games and freerolls
The product is designed with recreational and new players in mind. It plays in landscape and portrait mode, with one or two hands. Themed games such as Age of the Gods, Wild Twister and Football Stars bring casino-style progressive jackpots and gamification into poker, and the Age of the Gods Twister game can pay out large prizes. The poker solution is licensed in 14 jurisdictions and translated into 25 languages, including English, German, Russian and Spanish.
Live casino
Playtech is now one of the global leaders in live dealer entertainment, with studios across Europe, the USA and Latin America that support its growth in regulated markets. The content mixes original games with major brand tie-ins such as Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, Deal or No Deal, The Money Drop and Jumanji™. In 2023 alone the company added more than 65 new live casino brands internationally.
The flagship facilities are in Latvia, with further studios in Romania, Spain, Peru and the USA, including Michigan, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Trivia Show Live, a free-to-play hosted quiz that can be themed for events and games, gives operators an extra engagement and retention tool.
All Playtech content is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority. The games run on desktops, smartphones, tablets and even Apple Watch.

Notable Playtech games
Many Playtech titles have become staples of online casino lobbies. Five that show the range:
Buffalo Blitz
A ride across the North American plains on a 6x4 grid with 4,096 ways to win. Scatters and wilds open the bonus rounds, including free spins with random multipliers and up to 200 free spins in total. The top win is 10,000x the stake and the RTP is 95.96%.
Epic Ape
A jungle adventure with a Tarzan-style hero, played on six reels and four rows with 4,096 ways to win. It has medium variance and a 95.96% RTP. Six scatters can award up to 100 free games, and a random multiplier boosts free-spin wins by up to 5x.
Premium Blackjack
Proof that Playtech is not only about slots. This blackjack edition offers a low house edge, side bets such as 21+3, special payouts for different pair combinations and a wide range of betting limits that suits both casual players and high rollers.
Deal or No Deal: The Big Draw
A live game based on the famous TV show. Players collect balls that match the numbers on their tickets and try to beat the Banker by reaching level seven on the Banker’s bar. Extras include a Prize Boost Round with hidden boosts in five cases, the option to buy extra balls, multipliers of up to 25x and the Mini Draw side game played on a 3x3 card.
Adventures Beyond Wonderland Live
A live version of a classic Playtech slot, where the hosts interact with animated characters such as the White Rabbit and Walter the Caterpillar. It has a 96.58% RTP and four bonuses: Wonderspins, Walterspins, the Magic Dice game, which moves players up a grid of multipliers, and the Mystery bonus, which triggers either the Card Soldiers’ Mystery Bet Multiplier or the Caterpillar’s Mystery Free Spin. Wins can reach 20,000x the stake.
Multi-channel technology
Playtech has a long record of leading on technology. Its multi-channel delivery system lets players open the same games on any type of device, wherever they are. HTML5 is the core development platform, and it is what makes this omni-channel distribution work so smoothly.
The company also uses AI-based software and other recent technology to protect players.
Mobile play
Mobile has been a focus since 2013. Playtech games support Android, iOS and Windows devices, and because they are built in HTML5 they play on smartphones, tablets and even smartwatches.
Bonuses and retention tools
Plenty of online casinos build their welcome offers, free spins and bonus cash around Playtech games. If you connect Playtech through our platform, you can pair it with our standalone Bonus System to run VIP loyalty schemes, daily and weekly tournaments and other retention campaigns.
Security and Playtech Protect
Security is a priority for Playtech. Its Playtech Protect platform protects sensitive player data and keeps responsible gaming principles in place. The company is licensed in 30 regulated gambling jurisdictions, and each regulator tested its security measures in detail before granting a licence.
Licensed and certifiably fair
Licences from top-tier regulators such as the UKGC and the MGA confirm that the RNG behind Playtech games is fair and its outcomes are random. Those licences, together with a long track record, have earned the company the trust of operators and players alike.
