1X2 Network is a British game developer best known for one idea: simulated football matches that players can bet on at any hour. Since its start in 2002, the group has grown well beyond virtual sports, and its studio brands now supply slots, table games, keno and instant-win titles to regulated online casinos. From a football idea to a multi-brand group
The business grew out of Football 1X2 Ltd, and its first products were fixed-odds football games. The name echoes the familiar 1-X-2 notation of football betting: home win, draw, away win. The company is credited with pioneering soft gaming, the industry term for casino-style and fixed-odds games sold alongside sports betting, back in 2002, and virtual football remains at the heart of the brand.
Over time the founding brand became one part of a wider group. In 2017 the parent company took the name 1X2 Network, and Iron Dog Studio was added as a second studio focused on new slot and table game concepts. The group also formed a strategic partnership with Leap Gaming, a developer of 3D virtual sports, which broadened its range in that vertical.
1X2 Network is headquartered in Brighton & Hove on England's south coast, a tech cluster known locally as Silicon Beach, and moved into a larger office there in 2020.
The studio brands
1X2gaming: virtual sports and fixed-odds games
1X2gaming is the original brand and still the group's broadest catalogue. Its games put clear mechanics and quick rounds ahead of elaborate cinematics, which suits sportsbook customers looking for something to play between live events. The range covers:
- Virtual sports: Virtual Champions, Virtual World Cup, Virtual African Cup, Virtual Euros, Virtual Legends, Virtual Europa League, Virtual Rugby and Touchdown.
- Slots: Fruity 3x3, Football 3x3, Puppy Payday, Jackpot 3x3, Candy Cash, Red Dragon, Gods of Olympus, Yule Be Rich, Treasure of the Pyramids and Mamma Mia, among others.
- Table and card games: European Roulette, Astro Roulette, Chinese Roulette, Baccarat, Three Card Poker, Jacks or Better, Casino Wars, Cribbage and Sic Bo.
- Number and dice games: Poker Dice, Treasure Tomb, Race the Ace, Super Rally and Championship Hi-Lo.
- Keno and arcade: Tutan Keno, Keno Kick-off, KenoTronic, KenoLab, Jackpot Keno and Keno Pop.
- Instant wins: Penalty Shootout, Off Scratch, Darts 180, Scratch Soccer, Rugby Riches and Go for Gold.
Iron Dog Studio: newer slots and 3D tables
Iron Dog Studio is the group's younger brand. Its team develops new game concepts on the technical groundwork laid by 1X2gaming, keeps up with new technology that can improve its releases and works with operators so they can use every feature a game offers. Its titles include Wai-Kiki, Blirix Workshop, Siren's Kingdom, Paint and Treasures of Horus, plus 3D versions of blackjack, baccarat and European roulette.
Leap Gaming: 3D virtual sports
Through its partnership with Leap Gaming, the group added 3D virtual sports built with proprietary development tools and highly realistic rendering. Leap refines its games using data and feedback from players and operators. Its best-known titles, playable on desktop and mobile, include Instant Euroleague Legends, Instant Football, Instant Velodrome, Instant Horses and Virtual Golf.
The group's panorama gaming suite can also carry games from third-party studios through its third-party interface (3PI), so operators on 1X2 Network's own system can run partner content alongside the in-house catalogue.
Why virtual sports still matter
Virtual sports are computer-generated events, such as football matches, horse races or cycling sprints, whose results are decided by a certified random number generator and shown as short animated broadcasts. They run on a fixed schedule around the clock, so there is always a next event to bet on, whatever the real sporting calendar looks like.
For a sportsbook, that solves a familiar problem. Real fixtures cluster at weekends and evenings, and some leagues pause for weeks in the off-season. Virtual events fill those gaps with familiar bet types, such as match result or total goals, and settle within minutes. Players who know football betting understand the format immediately, which makes virtual sports an easy cross-sell from the sportsbook and a natural bridge into the casino.
Licensing and certification
1X2 Network is licensed and regulated by the UK Gambling Commission and the Malta Gaming Authority, two of the most widely recognized regulators in online gambling. Independent testing agencies, including GLI UK and Quinel, have certified its games as fair. The studio produces content for regulated markets such as the UK, Malta, Gibraltar, the Isle of Man and Italy. For operators, that compliance record shortens due diligence and makes approvals in licensed markets more straightforward.
What 1X2 Network adds to your lobby
- Content between matches. Virtual football and other simulated sports keep sportsbook customers active when no live fixtures are running.
- Breadth from one supplier. Virtual sports, slots, tables, keno and scratch-style games arrive through a single integration.
- Light, mobile-ready games. HTML5 builds run in desktop and mobile browsers without downloads.
- A regulated track record. UK and Maltese licensing plus independent certification support approvals in licensed markets.
